Hey everyone! This is Connor with another issue of Connor's Sportscard. Today I am writing about the NCAA tournament Final Four.

Some of the teams in the Final Four were suspected to be there all along. These teams would be number one seeds University of Connecticut and the North Carolina Tarheels. Both of these teams are powerhouses and have done away with all their competition thus far.

North Carolina had several tough opponents but saw away with number three seed Oklahoma handily by double-teaming Blake Griffin. They also mixed defensive players to take care of Syracuse.

The other two teams in the Final Four were definitely not expected to show up. The first team is the Michigan State Spartans. They are a good basketball team but no one expected them to overcome Kansas or number one seed Louisville.

But those Spartans passed both of these extraordinary tests with flying colors. Louisville kept it a close game but a late run helped the Spartans pull ahead to a victory. The Spartans have the luck of heading to their homeland in Detroit for their final four game against U-Conn.

Another team that was not thought to do well was the number three seed Villanova Wildcats. The Wildcats overcame two HUGE obstacles in routing number two seed Duke and number one seed Pittsburgh.

Villinova met Duke in the Sweet Sixteen. Everyone favored Duke because of their outside shooting by Sheyer and Singler. But Villanova's perfect defensive scheme neutralized Duke's Henderson and let them easily score off the ball.

With the upset over Duke behind them, everyone thought Villanova's Cinderella story clock had struck midnight with the Pittsburgh match up.

Predictions had Villanova would getting crushed, but Villanova kept it close and they got the ball back right before the clock blew. Scottie Reynolds put it went up...and won with a buzzer beater two point jumper! Villanova upset the mighty Pitt! It was a game ... [Read More]

Hey everybody! I am back with another segment of Connor’s Sportscard. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Let’s talk about the Wisconsin vs. Michigan game. Both of these teams were Big Ten rivals wanting a win. In fact, each team needed a win.

The NCAA March Madness tournament is knocking on our doorstep and Wisconsin and Michigan are on the bubble. Each was hoping to have a killer performance to get into the tournament.

The Wolverines also came in looking at a sizable stat. The Badgers Head Coach Bo Ryan is 47 wins 0 losses in his career against unranked Big Ten teams. Being unranked, the Wolverines were hoping to add a loss to Bo’s stat sheet.

When the game stated each side came out with guns firing. The Badgers quickly scored the first 8 points. The Wolverines responded accordingly. They ended the first half on a 20-8 run!

The Wolverines entered the half leading 34-32. This was impressive because in the last four games the Badgers have only allowed 52 points as an average final score. This is outstanding considering it is the second-best in all of Division One Basketball.

The second half did not go as well for the Wolverines. The Badgers came out of the locker room pumped and ready to play. They slowly started to creep ahead and never looked back. At one point the Wolverines were able to pull up within four but that was as close as they could manage.

With the final seconds of the game slipping away Michigan also saw their play off chances fading. The Badgers ended the game with an amazing 60-55 victory over Michigan. It was a happy day in Madison. Bo Ryan kept his undefeated record against unranked Big Ten teams intact going 48-0!

The Badgers are going to have to win out this season to keep their March Madness dreams afloat. That could be possible. The Badgers only have two games left.  Each is against rival enemies, Minnesota and Indiana. Winnin... [Read More]

Hey there everybody! I am back with another issue of Connor's Sportscard. I’m here to tell you about the Ohio State and Wisconsin Badger basketball game. It was a thriller! Both teams, being bitter rivals, naturally wanted to beat the other team out.

Each side played very good ball, fought a hard battle and were pushed toward victory by the intense cheering of the fans. The game kept its pace and the lead switched back and forth many times. It was quiet a nail-biter because the lead was never very big. If you were watching this game it was outstanding and proved to be basketball at its best.

Ohio State’s players Evan Turner and William Buford were trying to pull out the win. Marcus Landry led the Badgers with 17 points and Joe Krabbenhoft’s last minute, extra human effort helped seal the deal for the Badgers. They pulled it out over the Ohio State Buckeyes in there home turf of Madison.

With the “grateful red” behind you, anything is possible! After an extremely tiring game and a hard win, the Badgers hit the locker rooms with a 5 point game clinching win. The Badgers pulled it off and kept their March Madness play off dreams alive. The final score was 55 to 50.

Thank you for reading this week’s issue of Connors Sportscard. I solemnly hope you enjoyed it and hope you have a great day!

Hey everybody! I am back with another issue of Connor's Sportscard! Lets get down to talking about sports.

A huge event happened and it is what I am going to talk about. The Super Bowl. Maybe it's old news by now, but to me, good football is never old news and it always deserves attention, no matter when it took place.

The Super Bowl I'm talking about was between the Steelers and the Cardinals. It was sure to be a great game. You knew it was going to be big because the Steelers were going for a 6th Super Bowl Trophy. (That would be an NFL record!!) On the other hand, the Arizona Cardinals were in their first Super Bowl ever.

It was really highly anticipated because it was the Cardinals' explosive offense taking on the Steelers' stop-now defense. A player to watch was the Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. He was on fire in the play-offs and coming into the Super Bowl he already had six touchdown catches. This was a tie for the all-time record with superstar San Francisco 49er Jerry Rice.

The teams came into the game really pumped. Early on it seemed like one team was controlling the whole game. That was the Steelers. They scored early and their defense was keeping the super Fitzgerald and QB Kurt Warner at bay.

But then the Cardinals started to mount a bit of a comeback. The Cardinals were down but scored and took the lead with about 2:30 left in the game. Then it as the Steelers who were down and they needed to do something fast. But with virtually no time left, big Ben Roethlisberger threw a TD pass to reliable Santonio Holmes.

The Cardinals got the ball back but could simply not get it done. The Steelers walked away with the record six Super Bowl wins and a legacy still in the making.

Final score: Cardinals 23, Steelers 27

I was rooting for the Cardinals, but I think the better team won. I congratulate the Steelers on their great game.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed reading about th... [Read More]
