Amy Wheeler, owner of the Outdoorsman Restaurant and Inn in Boulder Junction, has turned her celiac disease into an asset by creating a menu that includes clearly-identified gluten-free entrees. The Outdoorsman is the first restaurant to do so in the Northwoods. Last week, Wheeler hosted a gluten-free gourmet dinner for the Northwoods Celiac Group.

Local health officials seem okay with the proposed compromise legislation on banning smoking statewide in bars and restaurants, to take effect July 5, 2010. The bill is expected to pass in both the Wisconsin Assembly and Senate next week.
