The Oneida County Fair has never been more accessible. It's smack in the middle of Rhinelander this year, at Pioneer Park. Opening ceremonies took place this morning. The fair runs through Sunday night.

Downtown Rhinelander Inc. honored 50 volunteers with a downtown picnic, held yesterday at Pat's Tavern on Brown Street.
Cub Scout Pack #672 in Rhinelander is continuing its work on an official Monarch Waystation, planting nectar-producing plants and milkweed, hoping to provide a place where the monarchs can lay their eggs and nourish their bodies. Video included.
The YMCA of the Northwoods held its 4th annual Teen Character Awards Banquet tonight, honoring 20 area youth. Video included.
Potawatomi Community Development Corporation and the Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes team up on April 25 for the Bright Future project. They will promote energy efficiency and recycling in Antigo, Crandon, Eagle River, Rhinelander and Tomahawk. Time are given here.

Rhinelander's Brown Street was cordoned off all day Wendesday and alive with shoppers, kids, food, hot sales and street music.
About 80 kids participated in the Children's Bike Rodeo last week, and five lucky kids each received a free bicycle. New photos added 7/1/09.

The Personal Essentials Pantry opens Saturday, April 25, at First Methodist Church in Rhinelander. It is only the second pantry of its kind in Wisconsin. Donations of items and financial contributions are welcome.
