After reviewing the article and watching the video shorts, it isn't hard to conclude that the people attacking our Senator, Russ Feingold, were an out of control disrespectful mob. There was a considerable amount of misinformation and innuendo cast upon our good Senator. He does not deserve the disrespectful treatment dealt to him. He has been and will continue to be a champion of those in need. When the final cost of the health care bill is tabulated, it will probably look like a real deal compared to the cost of the current wars. Maybe wars and killing people is more acceptable to some than helping those in need by providing health care.I wonder what the mob thinks about bail out of the banking industry and what that is still costing the U.S. taxpayers.Maybe we should pretend the Health Care Bill is just another war,and all would be ok.Helping those in need is more important than driving them to foreclosure, ill health and poverty because they cannot afford health care.
Talk about trying to mislead the people . . . you don't point out that TARP, which you roundly criticize, was a program advocated for and put into place by . . . guess who . . . George W. Bush. Of course, acknowledging that would go against your partisan anti-Democratic agenda.
So glad to see Feingold feeling the heat. I got the chance to see Feingold up close and personal at the listening session I recently attended. Watching him mislead people that were putting their faith in his mistruths was one of the hardest things for me to watch. I'm convinced he thinks he knows what is best for us. He, like Obama, Pelosi, & Reid, consider themselves superior and he is very comfortable trying to pull the wool over our eyes. The fact that he says his #1 priority is reducing the deficit proves he thinks we are stupid and we won't know he voted yes for stimulus 1 & 2, omnibus, jobs bill, Obamacare. He kept emphasizing that he didn't vote for TARP. Well guess what they didn't need his vote to pass that legislation - I suspect he got a pass such that he can say he is a mind of his own mind and doesn't follow his party blindly. Pull crap! He is a progressive that is leading this socialist transformation of USA. I pray to God, Wisconites can see right through him as I do
Good health care is necessary for life . . . and life is a right. How naive to say health care "is earned." Only a person who has never lived through the loss of insurance through no fault of his own, with resulting family devastation, would make such an inane comment.
Sen Feingold gave vague and skewed answers at best. He repeatedly answered "we need to look into that!" Now that is a definitive answer if ever I heard one! The session was extremely disappointing in that attendees learned nothing more after attending than they did before. Of course, all ten liberal groupies in attendance had their intellects tickled just by the mere fact of being in the presence of one of their high priests! God help the United States of America!
Thank you for covering Senator Feingold's Listening session 3/20/2010 in St. Germain. Your coverage gives us an accurate reflection of the opinions of those living in the North Woods, which is WE DON'T WANT FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MANDATING HOW WE PURCHASE OUR HEALTH INSURANCE. Health care and health insurance are laudable goals. However, there are other ways, more effective and less costly, that would achieve the stated goals. Since Washington is going the route of government mandates, their goals may not be cost containment, affordability and universality but really ontrol.
I will start off agreeing that health care is a right or at least should be. I really question the better than doing nothing issue because passing a bill as flawed as this one is doing worse vs doing nothing or better yet controlling the costs of health care. Granted it benefits "insurance companies" and some additional people but the cost to the people as a whole, in an effort to support drug and insurance companies is not reform. It's more of the same in disguise. I would also point out that it is a huge... "if this lousy bill is eventually modified into something providing universal coverage for all, then Russ has my support......" This will not be clear until after the next election. But I do appreciate the thoughtful debate.
Russ Feingold is facing a dilemma politicians sometimes do....
Vote for whats popular or Vote for what's right
The health care bill that will pass today is quite flawed, but is better than doing nothing.
Americans deserve descent health care, and if this lousy bill is eventually modified into something providing universal coverage for all, then Russ has my support......
Those who say NO to universal coverage don't realize how bad it is to have a doctor or hospital turn you away at the door, because you can't afford $300 a month premiums for private insurance.
Russ is sly and I am thinking long and hard about not supporting him in the next election. I used to trust his judgment and now I am begging questioning his character. He will not change health-care after it passes, his words on this issue are not truth they are a last ditch effort to save a few votes. I think Russ deserves some harsh words from the people from time to time especially on this health care bill. That is what a democracy and freedom of speech was designed to foster. I hope like hell Russ that this bill's price tag is accurate but we both know it's way off and will go far beyond the "stated" costs to the American people in taxes and health insurance rates. I hope you start speaking the truth to the Wisconsin people and toss the party line talking points. I hope your right Russ but I can't recall the last measure that fell within the pricing range the Legislature advertised.
